What is the Friends and Family Test?
From 1st December 2014 it is a contractual requirement that all GP Practices undertake the NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT). The FFT is an anonymous feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS Services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience that can be used to improve services.
The primary aims of the FFT are to:
- gather useful feedback from people who use services that can be fed directly to staff that provide their care, in a simple format, in near real time
- identify areas where improvements can be made so practical action can be taken
- inform current and prospective patients about the experiences of those who use the practice services
Good patient experience is associated with improved patient outcomes. Various studies have shown positive associations between patient experience, patient safety and clinical effectiveness. It is therefore important that the NHS collects regular feedback from patients and takes action to address any areas of poor patient experience.
The results of the FFT are published so that patients and members of the public can see how their local services are viewed by those who have used them. The results can provide a broad measure of patient experience that can be used alongside other data to inform patient choice.
To give feedback on the service received from Little London Surgery you can complete a FFT card when you next visit the practice; although we are in the process of updating our website to allow for on-line submission in the near future.
